About the Business

The aquaculture business is a high volume supplier of quality Pacific Oysters of Crassostrea Gigas species, destined for the whole of live retail market, and half shell markets, together that supply produce for the upper market restaurant trade Australia wide and Export Quality in Premium Restaurants around Asia and China.
Additional revenue is generated through the contract sale of half-grown oysters being on-sold to other oyster farmers.
Mature oysters are sold via an Adelaide based marketing company with processing ability for both domestic and export clients. Harvested products are freighted to major city centres throughout Australia each weekday.
This business generates consistent profits at high margin from it well maintained operation. The harvesting facility consists of four existing aquaculture sites with a total of 25 fully developed hectares and three additional sites of 20 hectares that are currently undergoing redevelopment, that in total equate to 45 hectares of water under lease.
An average of three kilometres of adjustable longlines per developed hectare is allowed under current licensing provisions.
The business is situated on a total of 5 hectares of land, complete with a main production facility and secondary facility, is fully equipped to maintain an efficient farming operation. Production facilities include onsite cool rooms, above ground fuel storage tanks, single phase power and mains supply potable water.
The main handling facility consists of a 730 square metre air-conditioned shed housing two large capacity electronic sizing machines for grading and counting intermediate and mature stock.
The main site also contains two poly tanks with approximately 37,000 litres rain water. A 100,000 litre Rhino steel tank with liner is fitted for above ground water storage for firefighting.
This facility includes lunchroom, combined laundry, toilet and shower facility, fully equipped workshop and is fitted with a 4.5 KW grid connect solar panel system.
